The Student Planning Association (SPA) is the American Planning Association affiliate student organization at the University of Texas at Arlington. While originally founded to represent masters and doctoral planning students in the School of Urban and Public Affairs, SPA is explicitly transdisciplinary in its orientation, and also welcomes student members from the public administration and urban affairs
Each semester SPA organizes activities designed to augment the academic experiences of members and provide opportunities for students to engage in relevant local and regional urban issues. These include sponsorship of outside and faculty speakers, issue forums, and documentary film screenings. SPA members are represented at the regional level on the Executive Board of the Midwest APA section, and at the state level on the Executive Board of the Texas APA chapter. The faculty sponsors for SPA are Drs. Enid Arvidson and Ard Anjomani.
